- The government of Mauritania has approved the Green Hydrogen Code.
- The code provides the legal framework outlining the rules, prospects, tax incentives and goals for green hydrogen production in the country from renewable energy sources.

Mauritanian state news agency AMI, reports that the countryโs Energy and Petroleum Minister, Mohamed Ould Mohamed Maoulainine Ould Khaled, explained during the National Assembly session, that the country has great potential in renewable energy generation and โvast areasโ to produce green hydrogen and its derivatives, adding that the countryโs geographical location also gives it an advantage to export energy to other African countries.
Mauritania is rich in natural solar resources plus has coastal ports offering green hydrogen export opportunities.
The minister pointed out that the preparation of the Green Hydrogen Code is the first step in establishing regulations for industrial activities related to fuel production and gaining the confidence of international investors. It also lays out the tax incentives for foreign investors.
